Job Description

One of our top clients on the outskirts of York is looking for a claims Administration Assistant due to the location you will require your own transport.

Situated in the Claims Admin Department, this office is currently open five days a week and the hours of opening are Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 5.30 pm.

Working Hours

You will work 37.5 hours a week. We operate a flexible working system. The Claims Admin Senior/or Team Leader will agree with your break when you are on a normal working day.

Your Department Manager will give a rota to you usually a month in advance. On a normal working day, your hours will be 9:00 am – 5:30 pm (you will work approximately 2 normal working days per week.

Job Specification/Main responsibilities

  • Opening and distributing daily post received.
  • Scanning post onto the paperless system.
  • Identify existing claim and reconciling correspondence with files.
  • Create new claim records.
  • Call/correspond with policyholders, veterinary practices and external parties in order to identify log correspondence received.
  • File paper correspondence in accordance with our data security policy.
  • Review claims outstanding reserve list and removes reserves where necessary.
  • Complete daily cheque runs.

Main skills

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good product and regulatory knowledge.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the AS400/PC/Content Manager/Mitel systems.
  • Basic knowledge of claim types in order to identify existing claims that relate to correspondence received.
  • Good working knowledge of internal procedures and standards.
  • Good organisational and planning skills, including planning your own workload.
  • Work well individually without continual supervision and work well as part of a team.
  • You will be working within a team and it is expected that you will give support and assistance to colleagues in line with the operational requirements of the Department.

These duties are merely an outline and will include other aspects within the Department and may change subject to business demands. Any changes will be at the discretion of the Claims Manager.

You will also be expected to assist in other areas periodically, particularly with mail shots and any future marketing campaigns. If your assistance is required in other departments because of business needs, then you will be expected to help.
