Job Description

Rail Learning & Development Coordinator


To be aware of and work to help achieve Coyle Personnel’s Mission for the Learning and Development of people working in the Rail Industry.

“To provide our Clients with a highly skilled, healthy and motivated workforce.

To work collaboratively with Rail Industry partners to improve the competence and behaviours of all our people and make safety the first priority in everything we do”.

To act as Co-ordinator supporting the Training and Competency Management for all personnel working for the Rail Division on all Railway Infrastructures.

Ensure that all operational and administrative processes that support the Training and Competency Management of all Rail staff are completed accurately, timely and to Company Procedures and Sentinel Scheme Rules.

To be aware of and promote Company Policies for Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Management.


  • Action all correspondence from the Sentinel System appropriately.
  • Identify training courses for individuals to meet candidates’ personal development needs and contract requirements.
  • Identify and source training courses as requested by members of the rail team with the appropriate authority.
  • Book training and provide joining instructions to candidates.
  • Identify training requirement through computerised flag up system for existing competences.
  • Coordinate trainers and organise re-training courses and attendance of candidates.
  • Identify assessment requirements through interrogation of the Sentinel database for existing competences.
  • Assist in registration of new candidates.
  • Book and co-ordinate candidate medicals and dugs or alcohol screenings
  • Enter Candidate Information onto ADAPT System.
  • Record activities completed as part of the competency management processes on control forms and computer systems.
  • Check and validate invoices as required.
  • Answer phones.
  • Process Assessment and Training Records.
  • Complete Regular and Adhoc e-shots/mailshots.
  • File all electronic and paper records appropriately as required.


Learning & Development Team Leader to nominate Deputy to cover all essential parts of Training and Assessment Co-Coordinator role during periods of leave or absence.

Qualifications and Experience

Strong attention to detail, good administrative and computer skills and be able to follow detailed processes accurately.

Good communication/organisational skills and an ability to work on their own initiative without supervision is essential.

Ideally, the person should have experience of working in railway and/or recruitment industries and have a sound understanding of the Sentinel System and Competency Systems.

The individual should have, and maintain, basic rail competencies (PTS & LUL Entry permit).  (Preferred)
