Job Description

I am recruiting for 2 x Internal Account Managers working for a leading business based wihtin York ring road.

Main role

Account managers are there to deal with all inbound and outbound activity for all regional territories and to build rapport and strong working relationships with all accounts within them. Account managers are there to maximise sales as well as growth and retention using excellent customer service, product range expansions, upselling and business development through prospecting.

Role overview/responsibilities:

  • Working in a team, they will be part of the first point of contact for all enquiries. They will deal with all types of enquiries including phone calls, faxes and emails. These queries can include quotes, queries, technical questions and orders.
  • Delivery of the highest level of customer service with all encounters. This includes visitors, suppliers, customers and colleagues.
  • Develop a firm understanding of the products as well as the industries they are used in. This then allows the manager to become knowledgeable and helpful to customers and makes selling the products much easier.
  • To develop rapport with key staff within accounts.
  • To be able to take and raise purchase orders, investigate and action queries, organise quotes and samples and take care of any other queries that may come up.
  • To achieve combined regional sales targets on a monthly/quarterly basis. These targets can be based on either turnover or G.P.

Working hours

Working hours are between 08:30 and 17:30 Monday – Friday. This role is based on a 41.25hr week.

45min lunch each day and 20 days holiday entitlement p/a.


The salary for this role is between £20,000 - £23,000 p/a depending on capability and experience.

The role includes several types of bonus schemes:

  1. Combined regional territories offer a 3-tier bonus system as follows

95% of target = £150

100% of target = £250

105% of target = £350

  1. Additional (ad hoc) bonuses based on specific targets set by the Operations Manager – for example – earn £1000 in upsells and receive a voucher worth £50.
