System Application/Analyst 1

This role will enable the successful candidate to learn how software products used to support the business. They will be involved in every-day troubleshooting of system issues from access requests to issue resolution. They may be involved in continuous system development and in doing so will experience software development life-cycle and validation. This is a great introduction to the IT organisation within the business. Learning this role is a gateway not just to the IT world but every part of the business as the IT team support every area of the business and therefore develops a good level of understanding of each business area.

Under general supervision, the Applications Analyst performs a variety of tasks in connection with the analysis, development, installation, implementation, or support of information technology systems within the organisation. This individual collaborates with end-users, IT Infrastructure specialists and IT Quality assurance staff in the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation/validation of IT programs for end-users of current and new computer information systems. They also perform maintenance and troubleshooting for a specific application.

Job Summary

  • Provide System Support for end-users of the business IT systems.
  • Continuously and proactively engage end-users to utilise systems’ main features and core processes/functionalities more efficiently.
  • Work under the guidance of Systems Analyst or Senior Systems Analyst to test and monitor system changes to serve new purposes or improve workflow.
  • Uses computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software to perform assignments.
  • Under the direction of the Systems Analyst or Senior Systems analyst, demonstrates beginning level skills with front end application configuration and end user support.
  • Work with Business training specialists to provide users training and instruction.
  • Maintain awareness and participate in projects within respective area of support under oversight of Systems Analyst or Senior Systems Analyst. Attend training to fully understand user impact
  • Provide quality customer service. Follow-up with customers to ensure that problems have been resolved to their satisfaction. Respond to IT service desk incidents and service requests promptly.
  • Manage expectations of users and maintain positive customer relationships; work with customers of varying skill levels.
  • Exhibit excellent phone manners and the ability to remain professional, calm, and friendly even under pressure
  • Help other IT Applications team members resolve problems encountered in performance of their functions.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of the main features and core processes/functionalities of the business LIMS (Starlims) and other supporting IT systems.
  • Provide feedback to the Applications Team Lead for continuous evaluation/improvement of approach to hands-on support.
  • Perform other functions the Applications Team Lead deems necessary to address the business’s current and future business strategies, challenges and opportunities.
  • Complies with data confidentiality policies; maintain confidentiality of patient and/or business related information.

Education & Experience

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience or aptitude with Computer Information Systems.
  • Good problem solving, analytical thinking, time management skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience & Certification (Preferred)
  • Previous Customer Service experience. Use of the Information Systems preferred


This is for a 6 month initail contract however, a permanent contract could be on offer.
