Job Description

I am recruiting for a Shipping and Warehouse Assistant to work for one of our clients based in a rural location north of York (Own Transport required).


  • Checking in goods
  • Storage of goods for short term
  • Warehouse for longer-term storage
  • Invoicing customers on shipping date
  • Packing up of goods for shipping
  • Dealing with Couriers
  • Warehouse - for stock, tools, paperwork and other storage
  • Liaising with Sales and Accounts - shipments and on-stops
  • Property – assisting the MD with some property related tasks

Leadership and Quality Responsibilities

Assist the SWM with daily tasks, and deputise for the SWM in his absence by leading the team to ensure the following tasks are completed accurately and to a high standard:

  • Goods In conform to customer specifications, are of high quality, carefully wrapped and labelled
  • Non-Conforming products are accurately identified and appropriate corrective action is taken
  • Storage is separated between (and maintained to a high standard)
    • items due for dispatch daily/within the month
    • those being stored for the longer term – accurately recorded as to location in warehouse
  • Goods out parcels are neatly packed, clearly labelled, and contain appropriate documents
  • Goods are shipped on time to the customer


Managing the Goods In, including supervising the team, and undertaking some of these tasks yourself:

  • Signing for and receiving parcels from couriers, checking the customer and the shipping date, indicating appropriately on the parcel, storage in Goods In according to shipping date
  • Checking individual parts in, using Brokerware, checking for conformance in all aspects of the product (Quantity, part number, quality)
  • Identify any non-conforming parts and liaising with Sales and Accounts to rectify
  • Wrapping parts in suitable antistatic bags, and labelling the parts
  • Storage of parts in the correct location in Stores or Warehouse, labelling the drawer/shelf where required

Managing the Goods Out, delegating where appropriate:

  • full use of the Goods Out screen
  • Liaising with Accounts re customers on stop
  • Invoicing customers when their order is complete and ready to ship
  • Booking shipments with couriers used infrequently (eg DHL)
  • Printing the delivery notes

Managing the Goods Out:

  • Supervising the packing up parcels with the customers’ orders, ensuring boxes are neatly wrapped and labelled, and contain the appropriate documentation, ready for collection by the courier/s

Working hours

Working Monday - Friday 8.45 -16.30 Please note due to the rural location your will require your own transport.
