My client has an opportunity for an IT Operations Analyst as the IT Operations Analyst you will provide support within the IT department for one of the world's leading construction companies. You will be a dedicated member of the operations team, ensuring that all network infrastructure, servers, and associated systems are maintained, supported and developed, in order to provide secure and available services to 3000 IT users across 200 locations in the UK and beyond.

Your Key responsibilities will be to:-

Ensure that all network infrastructure, servers, storage and associated systems are operating in accordance with business requirements and service design to provide secure and highly available data services to all IT users for this client.

Maintain business satisfaction and confidence in IT by providing a responsive and compelling end user support experience, and to deliver stable and reliable IT systems so that the client can achieve its operational objectives. Also involved, as demand dictates, with implementation of new systems.

  • Responsible for monitoring the IT by performing daily checks and appropriate monitoring.
  • Ensuring that the IT infrastructure is secure and available in terms of: network and data security, backups and restores, anti-virus, correct operation of environmental systems, disk and other hardware, SAN, RAID, Virtual computing, etc.
  • Effectively use available applications, including the service management tool and technical monitoring tools, to manage Incidents, Problems and Service Requests.
  • Ensures all departmental Security and Governance policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Ensure that line management is aware of any on-going problems which are proving difficult to resolve and may impact the business
  • Actively share knowledge with the rest of the team by email, documentation creation and mentoring others.
  • Prioritise and balance priorities and workload to ensure all works are completed within agreed business timescales.
  • Ensures that the resolution of Incidents, Problems and Service Requests remain on target and takes action as required to rectify problems.
  • Adheres to the Departments Service Management Processes to ensure consistent support and delivery of IT Services.
  • Identify and deliver service improvement initiatives in line with the Department Service Improvement Plan.
  • Identify and resolve repeat system issues in order to reduce the number of recurring incidents and to maintain services, enhance capabilities, and prevent system outages.
  • Work with the Service Delivery Manager to monitor and report on SLA performance of IT infrastructure services.
  • Liaise with the IT Asset Manager to ensure that the infrastructure components are maintained and updated in accordance with the department portfolio management processes.
  • Analyze day-to-day functions and processes of IT Systems to ensure they are performing within predetermined guidelines, limits, and specifications.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in operating systems across the organisation.

 

Key Skills Experience

You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent troubleshooting and be able to resolve complex technical problems.

You will be a great team player and be expected to assist others via tuition, coaching and mentoring,

You will be familiar with and have used the following technologies used:-

Windows AD; Group Policy, Windows Server 2008/12/16, Advance Cluster Manager, Networking, Troubleshoot Layer 2 to Layer 3 + Wireshark, Monitoring Tools Solarwinds /Engineers Tools Set, TCP/IP WAN/LAN/MPLS, Wireless (Meraki), WAN Acceleration, Riverbed Steelhead Technology, QoS DSCP

Security; Palo Alto Firewall, VPN (Global Protect)

Storage; Nimble/IBM XIV/Nexsan, SAN Zoning, Fibre Fabric Connectivity

 

Qualifications

Windows Engineer

Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2

Microsoft Hyper-V Virtualisation

Microsoft O365 or Exchange Server

Microsoft Skype for Business

Microsoft Systems 2012 R2 Suite, including Operations Manager/ Configuration Manager/ Data

Protection Manager

Active Directory Domain Services, and Windows Advanced Clustering

Network Routing & Switching.

MCSA / MCSE, CCNA or BCNE certification Desirable or prepared to undergo further study to obtain these.
