HR Co-Ordinator

To assist the Human Resources section in the maintenance and development of the Human Resources function throughout the authority. In particular, to help to ensure that the appointment and on going employment of council staff complies with statutory requirements, internal policies and processes, current terms and conditions and wherever possible reflects best practice.

The Council are looking for a competent and confident HR Co-ordinator to support our friendly HR department with a variety of administrative duties on a part time basis.

  • 8 months maternity cover
  • Hours: 14.5 hours per week; split over Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Place of Work: Worthing Town Hall

Essential:

Educated to equivalent level (Grade C) GCSE English and Mathematics

Desirable:

CIPD Membership

Knowledge & Experience:

Working knowledge of Human Resources, especially in legislation and regulations relating to employment – Preparation of Contracts of Employment

Working Knowledge of Employment Law

Clear understanding of diversity and equalities in employment & service delivery

Experience of working with a range of internal and external customers

Skills: 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate complex issues

Working knowledge of Data Protection Act to ensure that strict confidentiality is maintained where appropriate

Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with all levels of staff to ensure effective service 

To be able to reason, negotiate, analyse and problem solve.

Time management skills required to successfully manage a heavy workload and meet deadlines

Excellent IT skills e.g. Google, Excel, Access & Internet.

Experience of HR/Payroll Systems.

Experience of Northgate ResourceLink HR/Payroll System, Cognos Reporting & Electronic Document Record Management System - Info@Work 

Abilities:

High standards of accuracy, reliability and integrity

Arithmetic ability sufficient for completion of staffing returns, compilation and interpretation of statistics, routine arithmetical calculations etc.

Ability to work constructively and confidently

  • Flexible working
  • Able to travel to outstations within the Adur & Worthing Districts.
  • Commitment to dignity at work and equalities
