Organisational and Development Advisor - ASAP Start


1.1 To promote the Service Vision, ‘Creating the Safest Community’

1.2 To contribute to the achievement of the Authority’s strategic and Integrated Risk Management Plans through continuous improvement of community awareness

1.3 To promote service initiatives, programmes and strategies to reduce fire calls and support the delivery of national and regional community safety campaigns and organisational aims and objectives

1.4 Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act and ensure data security is maintained

1.5 Undertake line manager responsibilities within the team

1.6 Identify and lead the delivery on the existing and future development of work carried out by the L&OD department, ensuring that it enables the Service and its employees to perform at the highest possible level, deal with change effectively and continue to improve. This includes:

o implementation and review of the Services Organisational Development Strategy

o development and implementation of relevant change and improvement interventions, approaches and projects e.g. talent management, behavioural frameworks, team effectiveness and development, coaching, mentoring and leadership and management development

o actively seeking to improve the service provided by the L&OD Department.

1.7 Ensure your health and fitness for work is maintained in line with Service policy

1.8 Act in accordance with the Fire Authorities Standing Orders, Financial Regulations, Delegation scheme, code of conduct and legislative requirements

1.9 Ensure that all policies and procedures are adhered to in accordance with regulations and value for money principles

1.10 Establish, develop and maintain positive and effective professional relationships with appropriate organisations and partners as required

1.11 Prepare and produce quality management reports for consideration by the Fire Authority, Executive Leadership Team and other groups

1.12 Supervise the implementation of business continuity plans which offer an appropriate level of resilience to the Service, where required

1.13 Ensure complete compliance with the Data Protection Act and to ensure data security is maintained.

1.14 Undertake such other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility and expertise as may be required.
