Job Purpose:

The post holder provides both strategic and operational leadership of site management, flow and discharge. They are accountable to the Director of Clinical Operations to ensure that the department delivers on all of its objectives and for managing the delivery of key trust wide operational and clinical services.

The post holder is responsible for ensuring that Trust capacity is used to maximum efficiency whilst maintaining safety and quality at all times.

The post holder will be responsible for the operational management of the site and patient flow across the Hospital site. This will include both Emergency and Elective flows ensuring a strong oversight on a daily basis. The Head of Site will work collaboratively with the directorate teams, other departments and external partners to provide assurance that robust systems for site and patient flows are in place and that high quality patient-led services are delivered consistently. In collaboration with Directorate teams the post holder will ensure Trust wide operational priorities are identified and delivered on a daily basis with robust plans from the directorate for out of hours particularly.
The patient flow remit will include oversight of timely patient access to assessment areas from ED, access to specialty wards and management of the discharge team and discharge process across the Trust. This is a crucial role working closely with teams both internally and externally to deliver key Trust objectives in meeting patient access standards and safe discharge to the community with partners.
The post holder will lead the Clinical Site Practitioner (CSP) service, ensuring that all aspects of the service provided meet the objectives established for this team at all times. This includes ensuring that there is comprehensive service provision, and responsibility for the first line co-ordination of serious untoward and major incidents.

The Head of Site will contribute to the Trust wide patient flow improvement programmes, identifying opportunities for improving patient flow and discharge systems and leading on the delivery of improvement work streams. The Head of Site will identify opportunities to develop proposals to improve ways of working including new models of care and service development proposals

This role will involve working closely with the Trust Emergency Planning Officer and will include cover during leave as required.
