Health and Safety Manager

We are urgently looking for a Health and Safety Manager to work for a very large organusation.

The main objective will be to ensure that Infrastructure projects develop safety risk mitigation strategies during the planning, design, construction and operational stages of the project life cycle.

Some of your main duties will include

  • Maintain awareness of current policy, emerging capital expenditure schemes and the contracting strategy adopted.
  • Ensure that the CDMc is engaged and works effectively with the key stakeholders.
  • Manage the resolution of corrective actions, non-compliances and safety improvements.
  • Ensure that project and contract specific hazards associated with our obligations are identified and that risks are eliminated or mitigated to an acceptable level during design.
  • Provide health and safety advice to Senior Project Managers and key stakeholders.
  • Negotiate, motivate, persuade and support the key project stakeholders in relation to the delivery of safety.
  • Develop as necessary, procedural and operating systems and processes with the Safety and Compliance Manager, Senior Management, External Stakeholders and Regulatory bodies

It is essential that you have 

  • Significant management experience in a project environment with responsibility for health and safety in infrastructure projects.
  • Significant experience in a health and safety role in a similar/comparable environment.
  • Proven ability to persuade staff at all levels to ensure that safety is their number one priority and that a positive safety culture is maintained throughout the project.
  • Demonstrable communication skills including the ability to engage with and influence Senior Managers and Health and Safety professionals.
  • Delivery of safety presentations and training associated with the safe operations of facilities.
  • IT skills on Microsoft software, and in particular the ability to create excel spread sheets.
  • A track record of successfully commissioning operational facilities and putting in place on-going maintenance regimes.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet demanding deadlines
