We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Senior Hydrologist / Hydraulic Modeller to join our team.  In this role, you'll be responsible for :

  • Supporting the delivery of a wide variety of projects within a multidisciplinary team for several key clients covering a range of activities from project feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.
  • Undertaking engineering and scientific studies in areas of flood risk, hydrology, hydraulic modelling, SuDS, water resources, water quality and environmental impact assessment.

Core duties and responsibilities:

  • Undertake project delivery tasks as defined by the Project Manager / Team Leader, which may include calculations, drawings, sketches and reports etc., as well as site investigations. 
  • Be aware of project needs and take personal responsibility to work to deliver these to agreed time, cost and quality requirements, taking guidance as required.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in full compliance with the Company’s Integrated Management Systems (IMS).
  • Comply with the clients health and safety policies at all times.
  • Provide technical guidance, support and training to colleagues and assist, where practicable, in mentoring and development of others
  • To be able to work in close collaboration with team members and other disciplines and have an appreciation of their role
  • Co-ordination of activities in conjunction with Project Managers and Team Leaders
  • Assist with the submission of tenders, the cultivation of new clients and the development of services with existing clients
  • Recommend / implement improvements to technical policy, processes and design solutions where applicable, and share via the knowledge management channels as appropriate

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • Knowledge of the UK and European legislation governing the technical discipline.
  • A good technical understanding of hydrology and open channel hydraulics - this is essential. 
  • Experience of GIS (e.g. ArcGIS) and hydraulic hydrology modelling software (e.g. FEH, WINFAP, Flood Modeller TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, Infoworks ICM, HYSIM, Microdrainage) - this is essential.
  • Experience in some or all of the following: flood estimation methods, undertaking environmental impact assessments, drainage and SUDs design, river engineering and water resource assessment.
  • Ability to communicate in a fluent and positive manner with other team members and to produce reports in plain English

Professional Membership and Qualifications:

  • First degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or similar subject with significant hydrology or hydraulics content
  • MScMEng andor PhD with a focussed on either hydrology, hydraulic, water resources or other applied environmental science subject
  • Working towards membership of a professional body such as CIWEM, ICE or IEMA
