In this role you’ll be responsible for:

Management of the team’s day to day operations based on;

  • Business plan goals and action plans
  • Financial results and budget
  • Resource Planning and coordination between teams
  • Ensuring Project Managers have sufficient competence in Project management to deliver the team’s projects

Management of the team’s long-term development based on;

  • Customer and market development, organisation capabilities based on, customer feedback,

Management and development of the team’s business by;

  • Creating and developing relations with our customers
  • Planning and implementing customer activities
  • Leading tender work for the team’s projects
  • Systematically review and mitigate risks in projects

Management and development of the team’s people when;

  • Planning for and ensuring resources for the team’s needs
  • Ensure you have the right colleagues in the right place at the right time to maximise business performance
  • Supporting and coaching personnel on prioritising and focusing in their day to day operation

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • Contractual experience, with working knowledge of IChemE and NEC suite of contracts 
  • Experience of Business Development (including development and implementation of Strategy Plans) 
  • Leadership of client relationships including maintaining strong personal relationships
  • Leadership of large, multi-disciplinary teams 
  • Successful experience of leading bids
  • Experience of financial, resourcing, programming software
  • Ideally strong technical experience across a breadth of engineering consultancy/design projects.

Professional Membership and Qualifications:

  • Higher qualification in appropriate discipline
  • Recognised professional qualification and current membership of appropriate professional bodies or equivalent professional development

Personal Qualities:

  • Highly numerate with a sound understanding of programming, budgeting, monitoring and financial control at a project level
  • Excellent team working & communication skills
  • Customer focus
  • Ability to recognise opportunities at a project level
  • Commitment to design and delivery quality

  • Deliver annual team budget
  • Improving profitability to agreed target
  • Year on year turnover growth to agreed target

Clients:

  • Improving Client Survey results
  • Increase diversity of clients and workflows

People:

  • Minimimal staff turnover
  • Staff Survey results categorised as “Excellent”
  • Complete appraisals for all staff in team on a yearly basis

Projects

  • Undertake monthly reviews of active projects
  • Ensure project progress and forecasts are updated monthly and variances from budget resolved
