Our Employment & Volunteering Pledges

1. To provide opportunities to get people into the workplace who are NEET (not in education, employment or training) or long-term unemployed or a mother returning to work

In 2023 collect baseline data, to allow target setting from 2024 onwards, of the number of people recruited to be supply teachers who are returning to work. In doing so encouraging more people into the world of teaching.

In 2023, set up a partnership (i.e. Salvation Army, Restart), collect baseline data and set a target for 2024 and future years.

Collect baseline data in 2023 for number of FTEs aged 18+ years hired who are rehabilitating or ex-offenders and set target for 2024 and beyond.

2. To support nurses and teachers to join or stay in the profession.

Access the feasibility of funding nursing and teaching qualifications to get new nurses and teachers into the profession. Set a target for 2024 for number of funded placements.

Research CERA or similar organisations to donate apprenticeship levy to a nursing or teaching organisation, so they can train new or upskill existing teachers/nurses.

3. To encourage young people to join the rail and construction industry.

Partner with a training provider to provide training to 16-25-year-olds, giving them the skills, they need to work on the railways/construction sites, with the guarantee of consistent work. Measure baseline people and hours of work in 2023 and set targets for 2024 and beyond.
