Following the release of our first-ever Social Value Report last year, Coyle Personnel are now proud to share our 2025 Social Value Report which outlines the progress we have made over the past 12 months. Covering activity from June 2024 to May 2025, this year’s report reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering meaningful, measurable change across every part of our organisation.

Strengthening Our Impact in the Community

In our second year of formally reporting on social value, we’ve continued to build on the strong foundations established in 2024. Despite challenges across our sectors, we have expanded our reach, strengthened engagement across our teams, and maintained a clear focus on creating lasting community impact.

This year saw a major milestone for Coyle Personnel as we achieved the Social Value Quality Mark Silver accreditation. This recognition demonstrates that our processes are robust, our goals are transparent, and our actions are making a tangible difference to people and communities nationwide.

As Managing Director Chris Coyle notes in his foreword:

“I’m extremely proud of how much social value has become part of the culture here. It’s not just something we talk about; it’s something we do.”

Our Social Value Performance

One of the most telling themes from this year’s report is the remarkable increase in employee-led charitable and volunteering activity. Across the company, teams have demonstrated that social value is driven by people and not confined to policy documents.

Between June 2024 and May 2025, Coyle Personnel employees raised and donated a total of £18,369.82 to charitable and community causes, surpassing our Key Value Indicator (KVI) target and reaffirming the generosity of our staff. This figure includes funds raised for a range of important causes, from Mind, Born Too Soon, and Cancer Research UK, to local charities such as Pilgrims Hospice.

Beyond fundraising, Coyle Personnel employees have given their time and expertise to directly support others. This year, we collectively delivered 145.5 hours of volunteering, more than doubling last year’s total. Volunteers supported causes such as the Whitechapel Mission, arriving before dawn to serve breakfast to London’s homeless community, and worked with partner organisations like Reed Restart, helping individuals who have been long-term unemployed to rebuild their confidence and re-enter the workforce.

Our commitment to community engagement has also extended into providing education opportunities. In collaboration with the Social Mobility Business Partnership and British Land, we hosted an Insight Day for students from less-privileged backgrounds, welcoming them to our Broadgate office to learn about career pathways in recruitment, compliance, marketing and operations. Initiatives like these embody what social value means to Coyle Personnel and showcase the various ways in which we create a lasting impact.

Creating Opportunities and Building Skills

As a recruitment agency, our greatest social impact comes from helping people access work, gain new skills, and build secure futures. This year, that focus has been evident across all divisions; from healthcare to rail, construction to education.

In the rail sector, where the UK continues to face an acute shortage of skilled workers, we’ve deepened our investment in training and upskilling. Over the reporting period, Coyle Personnel delivered 2,169 training courses, supporting 1,006 workers in achieving essential industry qualifications such as Personal Track Safety (PTS) and Controller of Site Safety (COSS). This represents an investment of more than £409,000 in training and helps to ensure that our workforce is safe, capable, and prepared for long-term employment in an evolving industry.

Through our partnership with Intertrain, we’ve also supported Skills Bootcamps in Rail, helping young people gain the certifications and confidence to begin sustainable careers. One participant, after completing his training, secured a full-time position with Network Rail, illustrating how structured pathways into work can transform individual lives while strengthening the industry.

Our investment in workers extends beyond rail. Within the healthcare space, we provided 254 training courses for nurses across mandatory and refresher modules, helping them maintain professional registration and continue delivering vital care. Meanwhile, we’ve maintained our 5% Club Gold Award, with 8% of our direct workforce currently undertaking apprenticeships. These initiatives all reflect our belief that creating opportunity through education, training and employment is one of the most powerful ways we can generate social value.

Sustaining Progress Through Local Partnerships

Our social value efforts rely on collaboration with clients, supply chains, and community organisations. This year, we spent 79% of our supplier budget with SMEs and VCSEs, amounting to nearly £6.9 million. This figure highlights our ongoing support for smaller and community-based enterprises, ensuring that our economic footprint benefits local businesses and strengthens social infrastructure.

Coyle Personnel have also continued to drive environmental progress, reducing total carbon emissions to 1,160 tCO₂e, down from 1,337 tCO₂e the previous year, through improved energy efficiency, increased renewable energy use, and continued waste reduction efforts across our offices. These measures bring us closer to our 2030 target of halving Scope 1 and 2 emissions from our 2021 baseline.

Internally, we’ve strengthened governance and awareness. Over 80% of our staff have now completed e-learning on social value, climate change, and modern slavery, ensuring our values are consistently understood and applied. This alignment has been key to maintaining momentum and embedding social value across the organisation.

Looking Ahead to 2025/26 and Beyond

As we enter our third year of formal reporting, our goals are both ambitious and clear. We will continue to refine how we measure and communicate social value, using data to better understand our impact and identify where further progress is needed. Partnerships with organisations supporting NEET individuals, ex-offenders, and underrepresented groups will remain a priority, as will our work to promote new entrants into industries like rail and construction.

We are also setting our sights on achieving Social Value Quality Mark Gold by 2027. This is a target that reflects not just our overall ambitions, but our existing belief in the systems and culture we’ve built within the organisation. Alongside this, we’ll continue to expand volunteering initiatives, deliver more free training to healthcare professionals, and deepen our sustainability efforts through innovation and collaboration.

Ultimately, our social value journey is about people; the individuals whose lives are changed through work, training, or community support, and the employees who make it all possible through their enthusiasm and generosity. The 2025 report captures that spirit, showing a company that is not only growing but evolving with purpose.
