Social Value

Back in June 2023, Coyle Personnel set out to create positive change in our community through setting ambitious initiatives and targets that aligned with our social value plan. We’ve made significant progress in delivering upon our Key Value Indicators (KVIs) across various themes and while we’ve encountered various challenged along the way, we have put measures in place to effectively mitigate them.
We’re extremely pleased to officially release our first social value report which details our achievements, the lessons learned, and our path forward. In this showcase article, we’ll briefly touch upon the case studies included in the report, offer a top-level overview on the progress we have made, and most importantly, encourage you to take the time to explore our social value journey in full as we create a future that is not only profitable but profoundly impactful.
We introduced our comprehensive Social Value Plan back in the summer of 2023 with the aim of outlining our commitments and pledges across various themes. The plan has enabled us to maximise our efforts to create a positive impact and hold ourselves accountable to all our stakeholders. It details specific initiatives and targets that guide our work, ensuring continuous enhancement of the social value we deliver.
Coyle Personnel defines social value as: ‘The tangible impact created for society by or through the actions and legacy of an individual or organisation’. Our Social Value Plan reflects our mission to bridge employment gaps, promote skills development, champion environmental sustainability, and amplify our contributions to charitable endeavours.
Within our 2024 Social Value Report, we outline our performance across seven different themes and showcase the adjustments we’ve made to enhance our social value impact. For example, in 2023/24, we hired 43 NEET individuals to work in education roles such as cover supervisors and instructors. These individuals delivered over £11,339.17 of social value, as measured by the TOMS framework.
For our Health & Wellbeing pledge, we focused on supporting our employees to make positive health choices that ensure their mental and physical wellbeing. Coyle Personnel successfully trained 12 staff members as mental health first aiders, with a total investment of £7,934, covering both staff time and course expenses.
In addition to our individual pledges, we have established and built successful relationships with organisations such as Network Rail, the Salvation Army, and People Plus, to help deliver upon our targets. Furthermore, one of our most significant achievements in 2023 was earning the Social Value Quality Mark Bronze accreditation, a recognition of our dedication and the hard work of our team. We are now preparing for the audit to achieve our Silver accreditation, which will further validate our efforts.
As we look ahead to 2024/25, Coyle Personnel remain dedicated to building on our success and continuing to drive positive social impact. We have redefined our KVIs for the year ahead to better align our business objectives and the unique needs of the communities we serve. They will now reflect our evolving priorities and enhance our ability to measure impact effectively. Our focus, however, remains on key areas such as sustainability, community engagement, and economic resilience.
The progress of these KVIs will once again be overseen by our excellent social value committee. Led by our Social Value Lead, Zara Woodman, the various divisional leaders will ensure we achieve our social value goals and strengthen our impact on the communities we serve. Together, we will continue to create positive change and build a brighter future for all.
The Social Value Report comprehensively demonstrates how Coyle Personnel has made significant strides in achieving key milestones and delivering measurable impact across various themes. We remain committed to creating positive change in the community and this has been reflected in the successful implementation of our social value plan.
We thoroughly encourage our employees, stakeholders, and clients to read our Social Value Report and learn about our journey to making a meaningful impact in the community.
