Job Description

🚨 Senior Quantity Surveyor – Rail / Infrastructure

We’re looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a project team supporting the delivery of major infrastructure works. This role will focus on post-contract commercial management across a range of engineering work packages, helping to keep projects on track from both a cost and delivery perspective.

πŸ’Ό Role: Senior Quantity Surveyor
πŸ“ Location: UK (project-based / hybrid depending on site)
πŸ“… Type: Full-time

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing post-contract commercial support across assigned work packages

  • Managing costs across subcontract, materials, plant, and direct labour

  • Supporting change control and managing variations

  • Acting as the main commercial contact for work package managers and project teams

  • Providing contractual and commercial support to project managers and engineers

  • Forecasting costs, managing budgets, and tracking performance against plan

  • Identifying and managing risks across work packages

  • Producing and contributing to internal and external commercial reports

  • Making sure processes and documentation meet required standards

  • Building strong relationships with finance, delivery teams, subcontractors, suppliers and clients

  • Maintaining clear, auditable commercial records

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in a contractor-side environment

  • Background in rail, construction, engineering, defence or similar project environments

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent), ideally working towards RICS, IACCM or similar

  • Confident managing both subcontract and direct labour costs

  • Experience handling variations, forecasting and cost reporting

  • Strong commercial awareness and good contractual knowledge

  • Comfortable working independently and managing deadlines

  • Confident communicator, able to deal with stakeholders at all levels

  • Good working knowledge of Excel, Word, Project and Outlook

This is a solid opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to delivery — working across multiple packages, influencing commercial decisions, and helping projects land successfully.
